MOST Ministries Team Recruitment

Team 1915 is serving Belize August 10-17. The team, working with the local church, translators and our host, will go prayer walking each day in a new community. The team will also use the witness bracelets  and puppets to share the Gospel to those in the community.

LSEM Golf Outing – Friday, September 13, 2019

Lutheran Special Education Ministries (LSEM) is excited to announce its 14th Annual Golf Outing on Friday, September 13, 2019 at Cherry Creek Golf Club located at 52000 Cherry Creek Drive, Shelby Township. Urban Ministries Conference – Monday, September 16, 2019

On Monday, September 16, 2019, Camp Restore, Detroit will the Urban Ministries Conference. Nearly a dozen Michigan District-sponsored urban ministries will share about their efforts to serve their communities in the name of Jesus through short (10-15 minute) presentations. You are invited to the campus of Mt. Calvary located at 17100 Chalmers Street, Detroit, MI, 48205 to enjoy lunch and discover what God is doing through His people in Detroit, Lansing, Flint, South Macomb, and Benton Harbor. You will also learn how you can participate! Doors will open at 11 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by presentations. The program is scheduled to end at 3 p.m. The cost is $15. Quartermania – Saturday, September 21, 2019

Quartermania is a cross between an auction, a raffle, and bingo. It will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 16700 Pennsylvania Road, Southgate, MI. MOST Ministries 30th Anniversary Celebration – Sunday, September 22, 2019

MOST (Mission Opportunities Short Term) is celebrating their 30th anniversary with a fundraising luncheon on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The luncheon will be at the Kreft Center for the Arts on the campus of Concordia University Ann Arbor located at 4090 Geddes Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105. The speakers will be Gayle Sommerfield – Founder of MOST Ministries, Muzi Khumato – Director of Caring Friends, South Africa, and Sue Pfeil – Former LCMS Missionary. LWML Dearborn/Downriver Zone Women’s Retreat – Saturday, October 5, 2019

The LWML Dearborn/Downriver Zone Women’s Retreat will be on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 16700 Pennsylvania Road, Southgate, MI. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the retreat runs until 4:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s retreat is Beautiful Feet.  “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”, Romans 10:15.  Please register by September 6, 2019.

Camp Restore Detroit Fundraiser Dinner – Sunday, October 13, 2019

You are invited to our Camp Restore Detroit Fundraiser Dinner on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. This event will once again be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 23801 Kelly Road, Eastpointe, MI. Your donation of $25 includes $10 for the dinner and a $15 donation to CRD. There will also be a Silent Auction as part of the fundraiser with many items that may be of interest to you.

If you would like to donate any items for the silent auction, please contact Susan Riske at 586-286-0025 or riskese@nullcomcast.net. We will need a list of the contents of any baskets and the total cost of the items you include. Any other new items are also welcome as donations.

LWML Dearborn/Downriver Zone Bible Study – Second Saturday

The LWML Dearborn/Downriver Zone will be holding a Bible Study on the second Saturday of each month beginning September 14, 2019 at Christ the King Lutheran Church located at 16700 Pennsylvania Road, Southgate, MI. The study begins at 9:30 a.m. and will be based on John 15:1-17. Contact Gina Davidson at 734-626-2329 or ginadavidson2@nullwowway.com to register by August 2nd. The cost of the study book is $15.

Volunteers Needed to Tutor At-Risk Children

Gifts for All God’s Children (GFAGC) is a non-profit organization giving and supporting at-risk children. Connecting Kids to Christ (CKC) begins on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at East Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 3510 E. Outer Drive, Detroit, Michigan. They are seeking volunteers to tutor one day a week. St. Philip Lutheran Church located at 2884 E. Grand Blvd., Detroit, Michigan is starting a CKC on Wednesdays.
